My anticipation for surgery.

I am at the very beginning stages. So far I have attended the orientation seminar. In July I have my 1st appt with the Social Worker then in August an appt with the Nurse and then finally the appt with the Dietician. Once I have completed those appts I will then see the Surgeon and be given a date for surgery. I find the process challenging for 2 reasons, (1) A criteria for surgery is I must quit smoking 6 months before surgery lol I am working on that one. (Week 1 no smoking OMG :-) ) ( 2) I'm nervous and excited at the same time and like the waiting period to be a little shorter. I know that it is important to go through the full process to prepare me for my new journey to a healthier life. I am open to hearing from anyone who can support me through both these challenges.

Congratulations on the quit smoking! That's a huge deal! I wish I had wisdom to impart but I don't! Just encouragement, hang in there!

Oh thank you. It is very tough. lol Today I had a complete melt down. WOW I never thought quitting would cause such mood swings.

Hey I see you only have 6 days to your surgery date, I wish you the best of luck and a speedy recovery.

Awesome! 2 weeks is the hardest part I think. For me much easier after that.

Keep up the good work. Quitting smoking is a hard thing to do, but the benefits outweigh the effort.

I too am just starting out. I have my psych eval the 8th of next month and see the GI doc and cardiologist on the 15th. The 7th of July, I have what should've been my 2nd visit with my FNP, but she's leaving (which is fine by me, she treated me like I was a spoiled child and then gave me no timeline or information but the bare necessities). So I will be having a first visit with a different FNP. My daughter and I started this journey together, so we kind of support each other.

Good luck, and if you need someone to talk to, holler.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
