Cough/cold meds that are safe for us RNYers

Recommended Posts

I work with a bunch of jerks who come to work sick and use their sick days for vacation. Now I've got this terrible cough happening. Can anyone recommend cough Syrup or cough drops or cold medicine that are ok for us bypassed folks? Everything I have at home seems to have alcohol of some sort in it :-/

I wonder if the kind people with high blood pressure use would be ok.. I think it's called coricidin hbp..

Is that Rx? I'm just looking for something I can grab at cvs. I have alka seltzer and DayQuil but neither of those are ok now that I've had my surgery.

u might have to ask for it at the pharmacy.. I think it's one they keep behind the counter.. & u could always consult a pharmacist about which to use.. I'm sure they can help!

Tylenol products are O.K. Nothing with NSAIDS.

Last I read Dayquill and Nitequill were O.K. But check with your pharmacist

As long as there are no NSAIDS you should be good to go.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
