Damarie 0 Posted May 23, 2015 Hi everyone my name is Damarie out of Bethlehem PA. I was referred to this site by a friend who was sleeved 14 months ago. I'm so glad she did. Alot of support and helpful information is what I'm finding. I completed an online seminar and will visit the surgeon's office on June 15th. I actually did all this last year and backed out due to not having much support, people telling me "its the easy way out". I was scared as s@!t too. So i decided again to try losing on my own. I did, lost 25 pounds in about 5 weeks but quickly gained back 10 and have been struggling to lose it plus more. I have several family members and a few coworkers who have had weight loss surgery and they all say the same thing, they love it and would do it again. My weight has me feeling depressed more than it ever has. The hardest thing is not being able to shop for clothes where most people can. I have to ask, "Do you carry plus sizes?" And when i do find a place the selection is a small corner of the store, wtf!!
Nikasio 59 Posted May 23, 2015 (edited) The weeks before surgery are usually a challenge for everyone I talk with. Don't obsess about it, because after surgery it gets easier. The purpose of the pre-op diet is to (1) help shrink your liver to make surgery easier for the surgeon (2) see if you can tolerate and stick to a liquid Protein diet. Don't obsess if you catch yourself cheating 'cause tomorrow is another day. Too many people sneak in those 'one last meal' big dinners while they are on pre-op diet. Don't do that to yourself, because it defeats purpose No. 1 Every day is a brand new day, an opportunity to make changes and improve ones life. Having been a human clothes rack when shopping with friends and family at Plus stores like Lane Bryant I can testify to how much happier women become when they can shop at "regular stores." Good luck. Edited May 23, 2015 by Nikasio
AussieSam 234 Posted May 23, 2015 My advice would be go with your heart and do what's best for yourself. For those that fear the right decision for themselves are the ones left behind.
SkinnyDown 409 Posted May 23, 2015 Believe me....as I sit in my hospital room this is NOT the easy way out. It's not even close to being easy. I have absolutely no regrets, but this is a whole new world. I still can't get over the fact that I am not hungry...at all. Every day I expect it to hit me. I have to force down 1 Protein drink a day if I even can do that, ice chips are my new best friend.

ShrinkingPeach 1,291 Posted May 23, 2015 The best decision you can make is to do something to improve your health. I am one week and one day post op and the only regret I have is that I didn't do it sooner. It is definitely not the easy way out. Those who say that just think the surgery makes you lose the weight. The reality is that it is a tool along with better eating habits, the fact your food volume is severely reduced and you still must exercise. The pre-op diet wasn't that big of a deal for me. I had to do 2 weeks of it and I lost 20 pounds in those 2 weeks so it gave me motivation to get to the finish line of it. Once I got into the routine of it I didn't even eat the freebies like broth! I changed my eating habits at my consult at end of January this year, had surgery May 15th and with all I did lost 48 pounds so far. You will be amazed how well you an do with the tools you are given. Good for you for starting the process again! Good luck and keep us posted on your progress!! lilijo 187 Posted May 28, 2015 It's definitely not the easy way out! I'm 1-1/2 years post op and have had zero regret. The most important thing, in my opinion, is to follow your doctor's orders. If you do that, you should have great success. Good luck to you!
Damarie 0 Posted May 29, 2015 Thank you peach and lili. I appreciate the support and advice. Im gettin the most support from here. Ive only told a few people about this because i dont want to hear all the negativity. It just sucks when u dont have the support of the ones closest to you. I would have done this sooner but the negative feedback i got made me feel like this isnt the right thing to do. Not this time around. Im goin for it. perk4756 259 Posted June 1, 2015 Welcome! I am having the sleeve in August myself. I am so very excited. I've already changed my eating habits. And giving up the coca cola too. Drinking tons of Water, which I drank zero before. Already started drinking a Protein drunk for Breakfast too, where before just ate nothing. I'm gonna rock this if it kills me.
