I'm Looking for a high protein, organic powder.

Recommended Posts

Hello. I'm trying to find a high Protein powder that is organic. preferably over 30g/ serving. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've been reading that a lot of Protein powders contain lots of chemicals. I figure since I am doing a whole lifestyle change I want to also make sure the Protein Powder I am using is not only nutritious and has high protein but is also organic. Would love your suggestions! THank you!

It's pretty hard to find any Protein Powder that is over 30 grams per serving, organic or not -- unless the serving size is huge, and the accompanying calories as well. It's probably better to look at the ratio of calories per gram of Protein than "per serving." which really could mean anything.

Tera's whey has a pretty good ratio at 5.5 calories per gram of protein, but I have to say, I tried and thought it was the worst tasting protein I have ever tried. Like dirty dishwater. Some people like it though. Now Foods is lower calorie (unflavored) -- I haven't tried it, but it gets good reviews on Amazon. Good luck!

Wow. That is a tall order. I am only recommending the following site because it includes nutritional information and some reviews: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/10-best-tasting-vegan-protein-powders.html

There are several Organic Whey's, but even products like "NOW" are only around 19 grams of Protein per serving. Natural Force sells an organic whey 20 gram per serving product http://www.mynaturalforce.com/products/organic-whey-protein

Source Organic carries an Organic non-GMO whey, but you will pay a premium for products in that category: http://source-organic.com/

If you find something with 30 grams of Protein, please post as I am interested too.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
