shikydaniaz 13 Posted May 22, 2015 Hi! I'm 10 days out of my surgery and I am finally relaxed after the complications with post op bleeding that I presented. I removed my own surgical drain today under a doctor's supervision. I don't know why but it scared me less than letting him do it. So far I've lost 17 pounds and have not had any nausea or vomits or acid reflux... nothing at all. Actually I have been eating a "regular diet" for the past 3 days and no problems at all... except for the portion size. I can eat half a cup before feeling pain and discomfort in my chest... but that's not really a problem!!! It's the whole reason why I had this surgery done in the first place!! Just trying to regain my strength back as soon as I can. After the bleeding I received two transfusions but still feel very weak. My pain level is minimum. I have been able to care for my children (4yr old male twins) after school and even if I still get a bit dizzy after long periods standing up and can't bend over or carry them in my arms I have no trouble moving around at my own pace. So far so good. I can see my body changing by the day and it makes me feel so friggin' happy... yayyyyy! Definitely worth the couple of scary days that I thought I might bleed to death in my sleep and the horrible, throbbing pain in my neck and shoulders immediately after the surgery that nobody talks about after a lapariscopic surgery... everything worth it. Thanks for reading.

shikydaniaz 13 Posted May 24, 2015 Hi! What all are you eating on your regular diet? Good job on the weight loss!!! Thanks hunny!! Good luck to you too!! My regular diet includes pretty much anything. I am having Breakfast right now. eggs with chorizo. But my portion is about the size of half a cup. Yesterday I had chicken meatballs cooked in a light Tomato Soup and the day before Pasta bolognesa. Everything in small portions and I make sure I chew everything the best I can before swallowing. The only thing I couldn't hold down was bread. I fixed myself 3 thin slices of a baguette (tapas style) with cream cheese and smoked salmon. I did throw up that time. I read before that bread is complicated to include in your diet after a sleeve. I also had to program my phone to be reminded to eat. I feel no hunger (thank you Lord) so I have an alarm programmed to remind me every hour to either eat something or drink something the rest of the day. Hard to stay hidrated when you can't drink more than half a glass of Water without feeling discomfort. How about you??? How is your diet so far?? How do you feel after trying something new for the first time after surgery??? I discovered my sweet tooth must have been pulled along with my stomach during surgery because I can't stand anything too sweet anymore. It's disgusting! (Thank you Lord once again lol)

I'm currently 2-3 shakes a day and chicken and salad for dinner preop! Thanks for the info!
kmagno 9 Posted May 24, 2015 Glad you are doing to well! My doctor had me on a full liquid diet for the second week but I started to introduce food like egg whites and I had bbq salmon and veggies last night. I can't eat more than a few bites but my stomach seems to handle it ok. I was told no bread crackers or rice for at least 6 months but I haven't wanted it so that's been easy. I was sleeved on the 5/12 and I'm down 17 pounds so far. I am excited about the subtle changes I see in my body already. I know I need to start working out but I just haven't had the energy. Feeling dehydrated is a constant thing. But I am optimistic that all of the peices will come together in time.

shikydaniaz 13 Posted May 25, 2015 I guess if you cut down the carbs your sugar cravings should diminish as well... at least that's what I have heard... though I know it's so hard!!! I was sugar/carbs addicted my whole life and it is a relief to know I can overcome that now with less effort but I know this is a strange secondary effect that happens just sometimes
