Bush Vetoes Stem Cell Bill - Thanks Goodness We Are Saving Those Discarded Embryos

Recommended Posts

Another example of someone imposing his own personal views on others and causing tremendous suffering in the process in the name of "morality." Who cares if hundreds of thousands of people suffer horrible diseases that could be cured, let's choose instead to save all those discarded embryos leftover in fertility clinics even though they feel nothing, know nothing, are not human life, and will never be human life. Let's make this choice, forcing a personal view of morality on everyone, even though the large majority of Americans disagree.

Good idea. I like it.

This veto got me to thinking about what the role of a president is. I don't expect him to go along with majority rules just for the sake of it, but do we want him to be totally guided by his own values and morals, and ignore what we as a country might want?

Hit post too soon. I didn't mean to say that we as a country agree on this, or any other issue 100%.

I couldn't agree more. My mother has alzheimers, and my 14 year old son hates Bush for no other reason than he is slowing down the development of treatments for this horrible disease. I hope there is a special corner in hell for people who would do such a thing.

Hi Mark, Stem cell research is very important. It is crucial that this research move forward. For people such as myself who have Multiple Sclerosis it is of a more pressing nature also.

Man is there anything about Bush that I don't hate? Nup, can't think of anything.:)

I'm staying out of this discussion....except to say that Bullseye Original Barbecue sauce is very much superior to KC Masterpiece. Try it and see if you don't agree.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
