Wishfull.shrinking 53 Posted May 21, 2015 In 5 days I will be having surgery and I just started to get really nervous. I have been mad that this has been so hard to jump through all the hoops and excited it was finally happening but never nervous. Now today when I think about it I get really scared and have I distract myself so I don't go into full freak out mode. I don't understand why I am feeing this way. I have fought so hard to get here. I have done many hours of research and 3 different sessions with my surgeon talking about everything. I want and need this. But I'm so nervous. I have never had any surgery besides 2 c-sections so maybe that's it. I don't know, but I'm not going to back out.
kimby1029 119 Posted May 21, 2015 Well, it has been a long journey and I think the nervousness isprobably because you are realizing the permanence of it. That ispretty normal. My surgery is the same day as yours is. Working hard on the pre-op diet and keeping busy. You will do great! Hang in there!
Wishfull.shrinking 53 Posted May 21, 2015 Yes! The pre-op diet is so hard! But I have stuck to it 100%. I have been telling my self anything worth anything is not easy and that has been helping.
kimby1029 119 Posted May 21, 2015 I have stuck to it like glue too. No cheats. Been very diligent. I went today to see the allergist and am down 21.5 pounds. YAY! I have hit a little snag and will find out in about 3 hours if my surgery is still on for Tuesday or if they have to wait for a lab to come back. I am determined to stay on pre-op until I have the surgery. The way I look at it, the more I lose now, the easier the surgery will be.Hang in there!!!!! I will say a prayer for you on Tuesday too

Stephanie Stroup McIntosh 157 Posted May 21, 2015 Its normal. Change is hard and your whole life will be changing. You can do this. This about how awesome you will feel after you start to lose the weight.

anikka 32 Posted May 22, 2015 I'm nervous too. But I look at it this way... We spent X number of years to get us to this point. Having surgery will give us discomfort and difficulties for about 4-6 months. By then we will be back on more "normal" foods and well on our way to goal weight. Some folks have spent that amount of time just waiting for insurance to approve the procedure. We can do this and we will get through the recovery one day at a time. Sara51692 162 Posted May 22, 2015 My surgery is on Tuesday in MA as well! I came down with a really bad cold this week, so my surgeon said to update him on Sunday night to make sure I'm okay...I'm feeling the same anxiety too; it's so scary making a life-changing decision, especially when I'm only 23. cindyt 24 Posted May 22, 2015 My surgery is the 26th as well. It is starting to feel very real now. I just want it over with. The pre-op diet is kicking my butt.... though I have not cheated once. I want there to be NO reason for the doctor to not be able to go through with it. I just found out I got a new job I had interviewed for and I will be starting it 2 weeks after surgery. It feels risky, but I am counting on it to distract me from the fact that I will STILL be on liquids. Distraction has been my friend while on the pre-op diet and it will be my friend for some time to come! Good luck to all of us!
dolphin_girl 23 Posted May 22, 2015 Hi everyone, also on the 26th... We are almost there, it's so difficult especially the all liquids but we have done it this far... Just a few more days. Want to say good luck and God Bless to all of us. We can do this!
Sara51692 162 Posted May 23, 2015 Is anybody else allowed to have Greek yogurt? It hasn't been too bad for me with yogurt, Soup, and Protein Shakes. Are you guys doing broths at all? Have you bought any to prep for after? I'm doing my last bit of shopping this weekend and want to see if anybody has good ideas or brands. =)

It's nerve-wracking being in a new place and making such a big change but it'll get easier! It took everything in me just to tell my manager and HR because everyone in my office (which is small) is skinny. I'm getting more anxious the closer my date gets. Excited but anxious about surgery in general and just about how much my life is going to change. I wish I had found this website earlier in my process!
