Don't be. I had identical situation. Lab band surgery 3 years ago and removal this year in March. My was leaking and created a problem. i was twice in the hospital. After 5 months without band i gain 50 lbs!!!!

my doctor wanted my to heal first and is office people started to work I didn't have to do anything they took care of it.

They contact the insurance and they approved it.

Last Tuesday 9/15, I had a bypass surgery. It feels great, no pain, love it.

I'm sure you also will be approved, don't worry, talk to your doctor.

Good luck

I'm so depressed! Don't I deserve a 2nd chance? The removal of my band was approved but the bypass denied. So if I have the band removed, I'll gain a bunch of weight and then where will I be? I've already gained 11 pounds just since all of the Fluid was removed from the band. I am beside myself. I don't have the kind of money to self-pay. Should I fight this? I'm told I need 6 month weight loss documentation -- but the only thing I have are invoices from Nutrisystem where I tried them for 2 months approximately 6 months ago. Will that qualify? I just don't know what to do. Any advice?

I just had the same thing happen to me today. They approved my band removal but denied the bypass. They said i didnt show enough weight loss at my appointments. I lost 4 lbs at 1 appt n gained 3 at one. My heart is crushed right now.

My general practitioner and bariatric Dr. both sent letters to my insurance company outlining necessity of band removal and conversion to rny without the customary 6 month program. I was approved in two weeks and surgery scheduled October 26th, 4 weeks after insurance approval. In that 4 weeks I was still required to attend readiness classes and go through the typical physical and mental tests required. In the end it came down to quality of life and expectancy of life for insurance company. So, maybe talk to your Dr's and see if they can help push it through. Good luck.

How strange! I had met my out of pocket deductible for the year, so i had nothing to pay. But I had to pay near $20,000 to get to that point. I personally think because my primary Dr. and WLS Dr. both wrote letters to the insurance company explaining my health situation (less than 5 years to live), and the cost to treat me, the insurance company could see the dollar signs involved. Just my thoughts!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
