Hi all, I'm 2 weeks and 1 day post op. Initially I had no problems with my sutures, all of them have healed up nicely. The problem I'm having is under the large suture, inside my abs. I've had horrible pain and thought I had popped my internal suture. I called my surgeons office and they said I needed to come in to have them surgically removed because they were festering. So I went to see my surgeon. He didn't even touch me, and he said I disrupted it some how and I needed to go home and not move for a few days. He says it happens all the time. Let me just say I'm glad they didn't have to open me up again. Anyhow I've been sitting for 3 days and I'm going crazy but the pain is much better however, it's still there. Has anybody experienced this? How long does this last?

I'm assuming that if a suture has ruptured he's not wanting you to move a lot to keep that muscle semi immobile to allow it to heal, without being stretched and pulled too much. So rest should help it to continue to improve. Also, a muscle can take any where from 3 weeks to 3 months to heal. But since it felt better after a few days, I'm leaning more towards weeks for you (at least I really hope so!). Just be sure that while you're resting you do some foot pumping exercises, by pushing the feet forward and bending them back, it helps to keep the blood flowing (aids in blood clot prevention). And last but not least! Keep your doctor informed, and go in if needed! Hope you feel better soon!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
