VancouverGirl72 8 Posted May 21, 2015 Last Meal was from my favorite chinese food place. My fridge is full of low glycemic index vegetables. My pantry is full of the liver shakes. I guess I'm really doing this. I love reading the post op comments, about how much weight people have lost, and how well they are doing. It's so inspirational. I'm not used to relying on anyone to help with anything ever, but I think that with this, I'm going to have to really ask for help and support and be a total sponge for positivity. I have so much sympathy for my friends and family right now! They have no idea... Come to my party...maybe we can all suffer our way to success together?? ~M
Bandista 7,466 Posted May 21, 2015 Congratulations on your upcoming surgery! I liked it that for once every pound I lost on pre-op was one I'd never see again. One thing that helped me at this point was upping my exercise. I didn't want to do it, lol, but I did and am really glad as it gave me something to step into right after surgery. Literally. The walking kicked my body into healing mode and also provided an outlet for all that nervous energy. Good luck to you -- you are going to do beautifully! Love the sponge for positivity. That's what I did, too, and still do. Keep us posted on how you're doing!
AussieSam 234 Posted May 21, 2015 Enjoy the journey and never be down on yourself for not losing weight as fast as you wanted to or as fast as others as it's not a race. Enjoy the journey and wish you all the best.

Enjoy the journey and wish you all the best. Thanks! I'm on day four, and I'm so hungry. This is very difficult. If I didn't feel so hungry, it would be a little easier, I think. Fighting years of bad eating demons. Your profile alone is inspirational. You've lost so much weight, and you must feel amazing. Thank you for your words of encouragement. B-52 7,113 Posted May 25, 2015 My surgery was on a Monday Morning...6am I was prepped..... My Final weigh in with my Surgeon was the Friday before...if I did not loose the required weight he would postpone the surgery.... So, that Friday night I went out with my family for my "last Meal"...I too chose a place that I knew I would never step foot in again....and yes, it was a "All you can eat" Chinese buffet...complete with a raw bar, stir fry and carving stations...the works.... Saturday and Sunday it was back to shakes and small Snacks.< /p>

Hey vancouvergirl hunger is normal when your feeling hungry it means your body is using fat stores it will get easier once you get some fills.
LessOfMe0503 157 Posted July 10, 2015 I'm going to join the party a little late! How did everything go? I just finished all my requirements so I am waiting for a surgery date!
VancouverGirl72 8 Posted July 10, 2015 I had my surgery on June 11 in Toronto (I live in Vancouver). The surgery went really well...the trip home was a nightmare. Nausea, shoulder pain...gross. But ok so then I got home and figured stuff out. I'm now a month post op, and I've lost 36lbs (that includes 20 lbs pre op). I feel good. My incisions are completely healed. I am relieved that |I can start eating non-pureed or soft foods again I don't feel hungry unless I go for more than 4 hrs without eating. I'm surprised how good I feel. I won't say it's easy, but it's not nearly as miserable as I thought. I'm an emotional eater, and sadly we've had a death in the family (my 10 yr old son's dad died the week before my surgery). It was a real test of my resolve. But I powered through it, and continue to do it. My little man is struggling, but I'm making a conscious effort to not use food as a source of comfort. It's extraordinarily hard. I've started to use the Fitness Pal app, which has really assisted me in keeping on track w/ what exactly is going into my body. I've never ever paid that much attention before, and I make decisions now based on my journalling and intake. It's quite amazing. So while the preop diet...hahaha omg it was awful and I hated it, it was finite (for me 3 weeks). I will probably never eat sprouts or mushrooms again. Now, it's going to be about volume control, carb intake control and exercise. I have a really really long way to go still, but I find that every time I see that my efforts are paying off, it makes me that much stronger and confident. People are starting to notice and comment, and that also helps. I hope that you're all doing well. I think that sharing here is helpful for each of us for different reasons. Mostly, to show that we are not alone. I am not alone. Neither are you.
