nevadapinkprincess 60 Posted May 21, 2015 I am APPROVED by insurance..... Waiting to work with the scheduler on surgery dates... I spoke to the patient advocate today and tried to get a feel for how far out the surgeon is booked since he is VERY busy and I have several long planned actions this summer... The patient advocate said my doc does not want you to leave the state for at least a month after surgery... Anyone else have that? If that is true and with my actions already planned and paid I would be looking at late fall or winter and I AM so excited I want to do it now!!!
wantingabetterlife 364 Posted May 21, 2015 My guess is that they want you close in case of any complications. I know many of us traveled outside of the US for our surgeries and had to fly within a few days of surgery. Better safe than sorry, listen to your doctor!! camkids 11 Posted May 21, 2015 I saw my surgeon yesterday for my 2 week post-op check. He has no travel restrictions, I told him about an overnight trip we have planned for Monday (for my husband to see his heart surgeon), and a trip we have planned for fun in a few more weeks. He said "have fun". Just remember to obey your diet restrictions, and listen to your body.
itsme68 0 Posted May 25, 2015 (edited) My doctor has a 1 month travel ban too (he didn't tell me about it, but it was in my post op instructions I received at my pre-op appt). I had to attend a funeral out of state about 2 1/2 - 3 weeks after surgery and told my doctor. He let me go, but sent me with 2 shots of blood thinner for the two flight days and firm instructions to walk every hour to prevent blood clots. He said by that point, I was probably ok, but he wanted to have an abundance of precaution. Edited May 25, 2015 by itsme68
