lower left side pulling sensation and pain

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm new here at this forum so hello. My procedure was the VSG and I

m six days post op. So far its been uneventful recovery, except for today when I decided to push my activity level a bit. I was simply walking around a local store for about an hour and started to have a pulling type of pain in my lower left abdomen above my hip bone. I came home and took my prescription Tylenol with Hydrocodone and laid down for an hour. When I got up, the pain is still there. and kind of random. It doesnt seem likely that it

s a blood clot since I'm on blood thinners. Does anyone out there know or have the same symptoms? My follow up is not until June 2nd so I'm concerned. any info would be appreciated!

We have to keep reminding ourselves that although this was laparoscopic, it is still a major surgery! Give yourself time to heal. Don't carry a heavy purse or heavy bags. This is the time to treat ourselves with care and kindness.

I was Sleeved about a month ago and i remember the tummy pain. Like you, I had a very smooth recovery, but for about the first week to week and a half the left side of my stomach hurt everytime I moved too much. In the beginning it hurt everytime stood up, but then only if i walked for too long, or moved suddenly in a strange way. I think it is just the muscles around your tummy protesting so much activity.

Just relax and give yourself a break, and try not to do too much at one time. I would walk for about 15-30 min multiple times a day, but anymore time then that and i was exhausted and achey. Four weeks out and i have no problem going to the store for long periods of time, or walking for an hour. If the pain continues i would call your doctor, that is what they are there for. :) Good Luck!

Thanks to both of you for your feedback. Good news, today I feel OK and the pain hasn't resurfaced so rest mustve been what I needed. I am very eager to get back to my normal routine, so I probably went overboard.

I'm new on this forum and happy to find supportive fellow sleevers!

Thanks again, and I'll be adding my stats later today!

I'm experiencing something similar but on my right side. Is your pain in an area where there was a suture?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
