So yesterday I met with the surgeon. Here are my requirements (and what I have completed)

  • 6 diet visits (#4 is tomorrow)
  • lose 10 pounds by July
  • see a therapist and get clearance
  • see a hematologist for clearance (since I have APS - antiphospholipid syndrome)
  • have an ultrasound of the gall bladder
  • NO sleep study needed
  • NO endo needed

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel... It is slowly getting closer and closer.

I am using Dana Reiss in San Antonio, TX.

I went in wanting the sleeve, and came out completely happy with her wanting to do the RNY. My main concern was 40 years from now, how WLS would affect my quality of life, especially if MS takes over. If I ever need a feeding tube, the RNY offers a better outlook for my quality of life. To me, this was far more important than my attachment to my pyloric valve. I am 100% happy with the decision to do RNY, and I can't wait to get all these appointments done and get on with this show.

In my half-hour lunch, I managed to let the dog go pee, run to the hospital and make the ultrasound appointment, call the specialty center to make the hematologist appointment, and schedule my first therapy session...

Now if my laundry would cooperate.

All of my hoops are completed except for 2 more NUT visits. So it's pretty much waiting.

I discovered from the endoscopy I have been having silent gurd long enough to cause damage. Barrett's Esophagus has ruled out VSG.

I'm ok with that. Bypass here I come.

So now I'm going to bug everyone here on the bypass section.

Or at least I'll skulk around and read everyone's experiences.

I had my head wrapped around the sleeve. Going to change my head and learn all I can.

Love this site!

Congratulations your getting closer!

I'm in month 5 of my 6 months and have all my appointments(dietitian, psych, and ugi) scheduled. So hopefully I can have surgery somewhere in August or beginning of September! I still haven't figured out if I want the sleeve or bypass. It's such a FINAL decision! I'm leaning toward bypass vs sleeve bc I do not like that they take my stomach out completely. However, less trauma to my insides with the sleeve.. ugh. lol

My surgeon said that if old age nursing care was a concern that she recommended rny over sleeve. Because its easier to just throw a feeding tube in the blind stomach. My main concerns about surgery is how it will impact me in 40 yrs. I feel confident in my decision after talking with her. She said she does a LOT of sleeve to rny revisions. I only want ONE surgery.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
