Hi I'm having my bypass on July 13th. I can't wait to drop the weight. I'm on my shakes and not really living them but I have to do what needs to be done. Best of luck with your surgery.

Hi,

I have a July 13 operation date too.

Some quick background on me just for context. I'm a 42 year-old male living in AZ. My peak weight was 338 in April 2014.

I started my 6-month PCP supervised diet in December 2014, when I weighed 326.

At the end of the diet in June 2015, I weighed 265, so I've lost around 70 since my peak.

I'm halfway through the 2-week liquid diet, and it's as miserable as everyone says it is, so I'm glad that we're all in agreement on that.

The first two days were the worst, and I almost quit. I didn't quit, and now the diet sucks less. Still not great, but the Bariatric Advantage shakes seem to do the trick. Also I get one BA bar per day, and all the sugar free Jello and sugar free Popsicles I can stand. Yay jello!

Good luck to you all! Go July!

I had my sleeve done yesterday. I've been very sleepy from the anesthesia and in some pain, but it's manageable. Toughest is drinking. I get a cramping sensation and I can feel the air moving around.

I just did three laps in the corridors to get the gas moving.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
