I had my one month post-op follow-up appointment today and couldn't be happier with my recovery.

My incisions have healed enough to get in the pool. Yeah!

I think this was the first time in my life I was actually eager to get on a scale (I only weigh at the doctors office) and I wasn't disappointed. I even blew past my first significant milestone with room to spare. It makes a difference to my sanity not to weigh every day.

From the very first few days after surgery I have noticed some significant physical changes. My fat deposits have really loosened up. My mom even noted today that I was "jigglier".

I had more legroom in the car and was even able to pull the car door shut myself on the first try. In addition, I climbed the few stairs in front of the building (rather than taking the ramp) without much trouble.

Getting my mobility back is one of my biggest goals.

What were some of the first physical changes you noticed after surgery?

Fitting into sizes that I haven't been able to fit in, IN YEARS!! Also, room between me and the table at restaurants....one of the first things I noticed. Not worrying about if my weight exceeds the step ladder's instructions. WELCOME NV'S!!!!!

And great news! I am so glad for you!

My body has always been soft and jiggly so losing 20lbs, I'm even more jiggly. Tone-up in effect.

The first thing that happened was getting rid of my CPAP. What a thrill that was!! Not only did I get into clothes that have been hanging in my closet for several years (I don't throw much of anything out) but I was able to pull my car seat up a couple of inches. I have also cut back on my oxygen use. I still sleep with it & use it when I drive long distances but I can actually go into a restaurant or department stores & not have to take it in with me. I keep a portable oxygen machine in my car in case I need it. YAY!!! What a difference weight loss has made.

I was able to wear a regular seatbelt today! It has been years since I was able to comfortably wear a seatbelt without an extender.

Off diabetic meds. No more low blood sugar attacks (which required copious amounts of sugar to recover). More mobility! Getting an active life back to keep up with my three kids!

I'm only 11 days out and I want to get back into my regular panties! I'm still wearing my preggo panties which then became my fatty panties. Ugh.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
