ricebird 0 Posted June 20, 2007 What type of pre=op diet and testing does Dr. Spivak do? Thanks.........
rho_z 0 Posted June 20, 2007 It varies from person to person. I think it also depends on if you are insurance-pay or self-pay. All he told me was to lose 10#...no special diet.
rachelb123 0 Posted June 23, 2007 Yeah, I think it depends on your situation, weight, etc. I was just told not to gain any weight. I went ahead and tried to watch what I ate and lost about 5 lbs before the surgery on my own.
mcgreen 0 Posted June 23, 2007 I think it depends also on your health- the more medical problems you have, the higher the chance you'll need pre-op tests. I think they recommend a low carb diet to many people prior to surgery in case you have fatty liver to try to reduce the size of the liver but I didn't get any specific recs from him
enterprise01 0 Posted June 23, 2007 He did not put me on a pre-op diet at all. The only thing he told me to do was to eat lightly the day before surgery. And his post-op diet is far less strict than a lot of other doctors'.
HeatherGurl 0 Posted June 25, 2007 I had to do low carb until surgery... about 3-4 weeks.
cmp2007 0 Posted June 25, 2007 I had surgery Friday with Dr. Spivak and today I am on "mushies" and liquids. I think they want to make sure you are eating enough, so you get your energy back.
lisalee 0 Posted June 26, 2007 I was on a low carb diet. Was told not to eat anything white. No sugar, no candy, Cookies, potatoes, rice, bread, etc. It helps to decrease the size of the liver thus improving visibility in the abdominal cavity.
