juliarea 6 Posted July 7, 2015 Has anyone gone through hernia repair along with Gastric bypass? I guess I am more concerned with the hernia repair, as I have heard that this causes longer healing time and more pain during recovery. I'm doing that, too, and haven't heard anything. My pre-op is this morning so should find out more soon.
Pamela8822 1 Posted July 7, 2015 I was told they r going to fix my hernia too during the bypass. Any info would be helpful.

juliarea 6 Posted July 8, 2015 @@juliarea let me know what you find out. I am staring to become a bit obsessed with any an all information that I can get to prepare for what's to come. My understanding is the hernia will be removed and sutured/stapled closed during the first part of the procedure. I want to know, but forgot to ask... What does the stomach do after it is disconnected? Does it just take up space? Will it continue to hurt if there are ulcers and how is that treated when there's no access to the stomach? I'm hoping that being rerouted will make the stomach pain-free.
Gumpgal 45 Posted July 10, 2015 Started my pre op diet yesterday. It's a lot more difficult than I anticipated. My nutritionist says that's it gets easier after the 3 or 4 day mark ?!????

The Candidate 3,215 Posted July 10, 2015 Hello everyone! I've been reading your lovely posts and was wondering if I could perhaps tag along? ???? I will be having the bypass on 07/29/15, after going through a full year of waiting. I'm finding as the time is drawing so very near, suddenly everything is taking on a fuzzy surreal haze. It's strange. It's sort of like that after you've been thinking, living, dreaming the idea of "getting" weight loss surgery for so long, 24/7, and putting all your energies into jumping the many hurdles, when there's nothing more left to do, you start to sort of feel cast adrift. I don't know, like so what do I do now? I've prepared to the point of obsession, nothing left to buy, no more forms to sign, classes to take or blood to give, made arrangements at work, prepped my family, and everything else you could think of. It just feels weird in a way it never did before. It's not that I'm having doubts or am reconsidering, because that would never happen. No way! In fact I don't think I've ever been more sure of anything in my life! I guess the last minute haziness stems more from the fact that I've never had surgery before in my life! I've seen many family members through the OR doors, but this will be a first for me. I know the waiting room inside and out, so it's a real reverser of roles. Anyway, have to get ready for work now. Sorry to ramble on. Normally I'm never at a loss for words, but this is... different somehow. I hope everyone is doing well. Congrats to those who have just had their surgery, will have their surgery shortly, or have just gotten their date! It's an amazing life changing journey we've embarked on and I can't wait to see the wonderful new healthy lives we are going to have! ????
Gumpgal 45 Posted July 10, 2015 Aww thanks for the vote of confidence @Luvenme4eva ????. Today is day 2 and it seems to be just a bit better than yesterday. I do feel like the universe is testing me. I came in to work and the break room is full of Krispy Kreme doughnuts. I walked right by them, but dang!
Luvnme4eva 29 Posted July 10, 2015 Good for you, I would imagine that going going to work would be a blessing and a curse. A blessing because it makes your day go by a bit faster, a curse because of things like Krispy Kreme doughnuts just laying around being enjoyed by everyone but you. But, none of us got this far in our journey easily we had to be strong to pursue this new lifestyle. You'll continue to do great.
tianna615 2 Posted July 10, 2015 I start my preop diet Sunday. I know we can do it. Is there any tricks to feeling full? I was also wonder if any of the shakes curb appetite better. I have my 1st appointment with a therapist that deals with food addiction on Monday to give me some extra support. Thank-you guys for being here and sharing this life changing journey it has made all the difference in the world!
