Gumpgal 45 Posted July 6, 2015 Has anyone gone through hernia repair along with Gastric bypass? I guess I am more concerned with the hernia repair, as I have heard that this causes longer healing time and more pain during recovery.

Luvnme4eva 29 Posted July 7, 2015 Yea, trying not to panic LOL. BUT no I'm just trying to mentally prepare myself. Overall I think I'm ready. Everything is going through my mind, what to pack, what type of Protein should I get,do I need any little weight loss gadgets like Portion Control plates scales ( have a scale already ) etc.
Pinkpeonies1 87 Posted July 7, 2015 I am going to purchase the Portion Control plates too but later on. For the most part the first 3 weeks are liquids so I'm concentrating on that. I have a measuring cup shaped like a drinking glass so I will be using that for now. I have Protein Powder, Isopure drinks, Jello, chicken noodle Soups and creams and I think I'm set. Pamela8822 1 Posted July 7, 2015 Do we always have to do Protein supplements? What kind of protein powder do u guys use? Where do u find Portion Control plates?
tianna615 2 Posted July 7, 2015 I'm so excited for everyone!! I've seen some of the Portion Control plates on Amazon as far as the Protein Shakes I think once we start eating regular food you can get your Protein that way but I could be completely wrong... Luvnme4eva 29 Posted July 7, 2015 Maybe I'll go shopping tomorrow for more stuff. I really wanna try the Isopure I've heard mixed reviews. I think I've been just procrastinating but I better get it together. Thanks for subliminally kicking my butt into gear. My nutritionist visit is on the 13th then my pre op test are on the 14th, then I have an appointment with the pharmacist on the 15th. All this is happening in Illinois that's where I started the process and will be having my surgery but I just moved to Las Vegas 2 weeks ago.
Luvnme4eva 29 Posted July 7, 2015 @@tianna615, I think for a while we'll be getting Protein from the food we eat but also a lot will come from supplements since we won't be able to eat that much. The combined 2 should help us reach or daily protein goals.
Pinkpeonies1 87 Posted July 7, 2015 I heard Isopure tastes horrible but m set on keeping my Protein intake up during the clear liquid phase. As far as the protein powder I buy premiere shakes from costco. They are high in protein and very low in sugar. I also will be ordering procel which you can add to your Soups and drinks, it's pretty much flavorless. Once we start on real food you don't have to do the shakes. Although keeping some handy for when you're out running errands is a good idea so you won't skip a meal.
Pamela8822 1 Posted July 7, 2015 Thanks everyone that's very helpful. There seems to be so much to learn. I don't want to set myself up for failure. Trying to educate myself as much as possible before surgery.
