Goodbye to beer and pizza?

Ha! All I had left in my beer fridge when I had surgery is 10 cans of Coors light, 3.2 even! I am not sorry to miss drinking that!

Well... My surgery date is June 25th. It'll be interesting to post my attempts (or lack there of) post WLS. I plan on being a "by the book" player for awhile. I can live without beer....and pizza (if I need to). I have many years of training to overcome.

One of the reasons I even considered Sleeve WLS was because I have a friend that was able to live a normal life and eat almost anything he wanted (just smaller portions) with great success. I'm praying for that in the long run.

I love beer, all beer. Before surgery, I completed a couple beer tours at my local pizza place ( that's 220 beers). Post surgery, no fun no more. I drink a few sips, and that's enough, you can't even drink enough to get a happy buzz before it becomes uncomfortable. Beer is fattening anyway, I don't miss it day to day.

I'm not a drinker, but at three and half weeks after surgery I decided to try an O'Doul's non-alcoholic beer. This was about half an hour after having an 8 oz white bean Soup. I chewed the Soup Beans so long and fastidiously it might as well have been pureed. Both went down easy. I can't wait until I can have a Guinness or a 'black and tan.' I'm not a drinker, but I do go out at least once or twice a month for a beer with friends.

I, too, had 5 or 6 cans of Coors Light in my fridge when I came home from getting sleeved in December. I put then on my back porch to make room in the fridge for Clear Liquids, and watched them freeze and explode over the next few weeks. I'm done with beer, but, the occasional single malt scotch... now that's a different story. Lol

Surgery complete. 1 week into Phase 2. pizza is the first thing I craved. It's those stupid Pizza Hut hotdog crust commercials, lol. I'll be fine. Just thought it was funny.

After a while I just stopped noticing the food commercials. The old me would have probably wanted to try that hot dog pizza thing but today it doesn't even look good.

I would say that beer you could have once in a while, but it should be for a celebration of with friends, make it count.

As for pizza, if it's very crunchy, you could have it on the band.

You could also make your own by using a whole what wrap, some lite cheese and sauce.

I don't even like pizza Hut but those commercials definitely have me wanting to try their weird hot dog crusts lol.

I am just starting on the pre-op path and I can say that I have no desire for the hotdog crust even though technically I can. I love Pizza, and I love pigs in a blanket, their love child, I can do without. B)

I'm like 8 months out now, and have found that if I am really craving pizza, I can eat 1 or 2 slices as long as its thin crust pizza. The days of eating my own larger pizza ate gone, and I'm glad that they are!

No. You can never drink alcohol or eat greasy bread and be healthy..... Just my opinion as a nurse and person who has struggled with my weight forever :( It's sad I know!!!! Some say it's ok to cheat every once in a while that you need it to keep from binging. I also disagree with that once I cheat I want to cheat more! I think it's best to say good bye to eating crap for forever!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
