Normal Consumption...?

Recommended Posts

The NUT and RN today both reinforced that everyone is different and everyone will have a different experience with food toleration. We were advised to not compare ourselves with others because we won't have an identical reaction. However, we can support one another through the ups and downs and we were encouraged to reach out anytime we got confused about our plan, etc.

I'm sorry the OP felt as though her regular doc was not encouraging. Based on what you've shared, losing any weight is awesome! Keep getting in that Protein and the liquids.< /p>

That sounds amazing! And very supportive! I'm thankful that you have such a good circle for your providers. Now, don't get me wrong, my surgeon is the best guy I've ever known! He's insanely supportive and considerate...everything you'd want in a doctor. He even called me several times at home just to check on me. I guess, from working in the health care field, I just expect a little bit different attitudes from the people I have seen post-operative. Kind of a treat others how you'd want to be treated you know? But thank you again so very much for yours & everyone else's support. It's such a blessing right now. I'm 30 years old and don't have a Facebook page!!! Crazy right? So this was a big deal to join a chat group, and praise Jesus, I'm glad I did.

Don't be afraid to tell your provider something like, "I do so much better with the focus on the positive side of thing instead of the negative. Can you focus on the positives please?"

And if/when they don't seem to know what you mean, you can say, "instead of saying, 'it's normal to ONLY lose a few pounds in the first week', can you say, 'awesome! you've lost weight!' ".

You're right! I've lived under black clothes and long sleeves for so long trying to slip under the radar, it's time I stand up for myself. I appreciate your advice, and it will be taken.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
