Hello everyone!!! I was sleeved on 3/2. My pre op weight was 249, post op 237 and currently at 211. I tend to get stuck for a week or two in the same weight but I don't get discouraged. I am happy with what I have lost this far and remain excited

For the pounds that will continue to drop. I have been reading along and several items that you all have shared have helped me. I also read that several of you don't crave the bad foods and taste buds change. Well my cravings are still present and my taste buds are the same. I was wondering if you could help me on how to manage these cravings. I love drinking coke or a beer in a hot summer day and obviously now I can't and have done pretty good but I still WANT IT !! LOL!! I also love chocolate cake and any type of cake especially cheesecake and it is very hard for me but I have refrained from eating them. Do you have any alternative to these foods/ cravings?

Low carb mug cakes rock! Just google them and adjust to taste.

When it comes to certain flavors, I'm planning on SF puddings mixed in with my Protein shakes. A great example is a vanilla Protein shake base with a TBSP of SF Cheesecake pudding, and whatever Torani SF Syrup matches the flavors I'm craving. I'm a little under two weeks post-op, and I'm adding SF English Toffee to my shake for the evening (I keep late hours), and it's really hit it on the nose for the flavors I was looking for. I'm not up to the puddings yet (require puree stage first), but the syrups have been great. That said, I suggest BariatricFoodie or Eggface's blogs, as both of them have a great array of dessert type treats that are WLS friendly!

Sadly, I can't offer you any help on the Coke or Beer front, as I've never been a big drinker of either, and don't miss soda or alcohol at all. I'm sure one of the more seasoned vets will chime in soon.

Edit: Kate's also got a great point, in that WLS friendly mug cakes are a fantastic option. They were my go to pre-op, because I didn't want to load down with junk, but I still loved my sweets.

Thanks!!! Saw some great recipes !!!

I make mine without the usual carb-flours, using ground golden flaxseed, almond and coconut flour, Protein powder, stevia, egg whites, flavor extracts or cocoa powder, and a bit of butter or coconut oil. SO good, and no digestible carbs to speak of.

I'm hungry all the time too, I was not expecting this. 2 hours after feeling full I'll be ravenous! Not necessarily for "bad" stuff, just any food!

I too crave certain foods and have to just keep fighting it but as far as the Coke goes, I LOVED my diet caffeine free Coke but I have tried sipping some, swishing it around in my mouth to get rid of some of the bubbles but it was not the same for me. I didn't enjoy it at all. I hope this helps!

I found s bunch of recipes on Pinterest. One that I have made is a Protein packed cheesecake. I added extra Protein Powder and put it in an ice cube tray. So when I'm having a craving for something sweet I pull one out of the freezer. Its pretty good and cures my sweet tooth especially if I drizzle some sf caramel Syrup on it

I don't drink cokes anymore and never really cared too much for beer, so I can't help with that as Water, diet lemonade, a Protein shake or Decaf tea is all I drink.

However, for a sweet tooth, I've turned to Protein Bars - just make sure you don't get ones with lots of sugar. Quest bars are really good. So are Combat Crunch, some Pure Protein, and the Chocorite Protein Bars. Power Crunch is good too, if you don't want to have a full stomach as they crunch down into nothing. Oh another recent find is the Carnivore Brownie - they are awesome.

Leylada our surgeries were on the same day! My high was 246 (December) I was 224 day of surgery and am now 199. I also crave soda horribly. I was a HUGE diet coke drinker but I will NOT do so now. I have switched to diet Lipton Tea. Good luck and let me know how you're doing!

Yay!!! I found a same surgery day buddy!!! I do miss my soda but I have done a good job in not drinking and sticking to Water. It's hard but I hope the craving will soon pass.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
