8 months since surgery -going strong

Recommended Posts

Still a long way to go but thrilled with the progress so far! I have a lot to lose but down 140. I have had 3 fills. Following a low carb diet. I am finally feeling like doing more exercise. Committed to walking 4 times a week and strength training. I want to continue at the same pace of loss and know I need to add in the exercise. I am still reminding myself to chew chew chew, and stop when satisfied. I tend to want to eat the last few bites even when I have stop signals. Measuring, weighing and tracking all foods. Using My FittnessPal. Drinking 100 ozs of Water a day. Joined an on line support group with a weekly weigh in to keep me accountable. Fighting the desire to eat between 8pm and 10pm. Readily available Protein Snacks to keep me going. I continue to learn and make better choices. Hoping each of you are having success as well!!

Wow - you are doing great! Keep up the great work. I also struggle to stop eating once I've had enough - but it's a skill that will get stronger with practice.

One year mark tomorrow! Down to 248- 189 lost. Continuing to focus and hope to reach goal weight by the 2nd year mark. Feeling great and doing all the things I could not do for the last 20 years.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
