Recommended Posts

Or give up completely? For me it's cheezels the cheese ring crisps. Every now and then I have a bit.

Every once in a great while I will have fresh frozen custard. I cannot eat much of it and always regret it afterward because it weighs heavy in my tummy but it is my absolute favorite treat.

Here's the best part of this...I have no guilty pleasures. I eat anything I want. I just do it sparingly and in doing that, without the guilt. For me, the guilt was always the amount I ate...or that I was the fat woman with Ring Dings, chips, and soda in her shopping cart. Life is so much better this way with a cart full of lean Protein, veggies, good carbs...and a few treats like thin pretzels, SF jello/pudding, and unsalted nuts.

Coke, never really liked it before surgery, but sure enjoy the odd one now (usually with pizza).

Same here.... I eat whatever I want, in moderation and guilt free. (Mmmmmmm cheesecake)

I also eat whatever I want in moderation- except chocolate. chocolate is my heroin, I know no matter how sick it makes me I will keep eating it. So, I eat chocolate at Christmas, and that is it. Then I get to enjoy it for a few weeks and I don't have to worry about eating too much of it the rest of the year.

None. I have stopped associating food wth guilt, I refuse to spoil my occasional treats by regretting them afterwards. There is no food I never eat!

I didn't give up anything either. There are several things that I used to like and now I don't care for them anymore but I have never excluded anything on purpose. Oddly, apples do not sit well anymore and I despise whipped cream.

Full caffinated coffee with that horrible but delicious french vanilla coffee creamer. 2 cups a day.

I just don't want to give it up.

No guilt here. I am 2 years post op and have been maintaining easily for over a year.

I eat what I want, when I want. That said, I rarely want much and when I do, a few bites is plenty.

It's actually a new guilty pleasure...Pink Champagne Cupcakes. Love these now :) I can't eat all the frosting on it as it's too sweet but the cake part is amazing.

No guilt! But I'll never not love my occasional Peanut Butter and jelly sandwich. And I probably eat way too much frozen yogurt, but it's got Protein in it, lol. Sometimes that's what gets me over the edge to goal at night.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
