Approval process – five year history

Recommended Posts

I'm a little concerned about my approval process because I don't think I have a good solid five years of obesity history. I was always a yo-yo dieter and I could lose and gain very easily. Atkins was a dream come true but the next thing you know the wait weight was always back on. It even got to the point where I didn't like to go to the doctor because I did not want them to look at me and tell me that I was too heavy I needed to lose weight. If I did go to the doctor I would not even let them weigh me but I would tell them what I weighed. So I have some concerns because of this and need some input/advice

Just to give you an idea of my weight roller coaster ride; I started my current job five years ago and was about 160 to 168 pounds. With no time I started gaining weight caught up over 215 pounds, lost the weight and got into the 180 range, and now I am 235.

Depends on what your center requires of you and what your insurence requires. Mine did not require 6 month weight loss (BCBS of Illinois) but my center required 4-6 months with THEM. Sometimes it takes longer for some people due to some set back with lab work or some other things. mostly the centers they just like to have history on your past weight loss attempts but insurence requirements vary.

ALSO I am not sure what part of the process you are at...but most centers require a bmi of 37 with some health related issues due to being over weight. or a bmi of 40 with or without health issues.

my bad I think it's 35. not 37.

I just had my first appt. I have BCBS of Texas. They require 5 years of obesity history which is why I am worried about.

ohhhhhhh. I wouldn't worry too much I think most of the time if you don't have a 5 year documentation on file with your own doctor then you will just have to do the 6 month supervised weight loss program with the center and your doctor. it ll work out just fine I'm sure! sometimes if people already have the 5 years documented that means they can skip the 6 month supervised diet with their doctor that's all. :) you can call the office and ask a cordnator the specifics you will feel much better after I know I had loads of questions anxieties worries as well. ugh ..

good luck on the start of your journey and please keep me posted ! :) I used to live south of Houston Lake Jackson and Brazoria.

I don't know if I should be sad or glad I have a 5 year history of obesity and failure of keeping off what I DID lose. I have plenty of proof I can't do this by myself. I wish I had looked into this two years ago (had the same insurance) and not have waited till I gained more weight...

Hope it all works out for you.

Louise

Thank you this answered my question. I just hope I can get this done before year end because I've already met my deductible. I used to live in the Clearlake area from 1992 through 2010 and moved to West Houston in 2010.

I understand what you mean. I have done this by myself and the max weight that I lost when I was small was 42 pounds. I'm tired, I am no longer healthy, I don't feel good most of the time, and it has gotten out of hand and I blame myself. I could actually lose this weight on my own but I don't know if I could keep it off. Be thankful that there is another way that we can get out of the situation that we are in and then be able to keep the weight off and feel better.

Sorry for the slow reply. I have had some issues and dropped off the site for a few days.

I went straight to a surgeon on May 4th. 5 people at work have had some sort of surgery and have all used the same clinic, so I made a phone call and got in. All success stories.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
