I am really afraid of being able to afford everything I need after my sleeve. Can someone give me idea how much all the Protein Shakes and the liquid diet is going to run me?

I got sleeved in April 14, 2015, so 2 days past a month and I am on my 2nd bottle of Protein. I'm drinking the nectar fuzzy naval and it cost 36.99 plus tax. the Soups are under 2.00 and you will not even be able to finish a whole can. I am actually saving a lot of money not being able to eat as much as i used to.

I have surgery last week. I didn't buy to much before surgery. I picked up two or three cans of Soup, sf Popsicles, sf Jello and that was it. Oh and a four pk of the high Protein slim fast shakes. They told me my taste will change and it sure enough did. I can't stand the slim fast shakes after surgery so they are just sitting in my kitchen. The taste of Water even changes. Just make sure you have help when you come home and they are able to go to the store for you. Having a bag of ice on hand is good too. I put the ice in a sandwich bag and banged it around to make ice chips! I spent less the $20. Good luck!

The cost is minimal. Don't buy too much ahead of time as your tastes will change. I still have 3/4 of the Protein Drinks I purchased a year ago I never consumed. I should probably throw them out, huh? ???? Add up what you spend on fast food, take out and regular grocery shopping now and I guarantee your food bill will be a fraction of that. There are supplies you can buy but you really don't need them. I compared the process to buying a new puppy. You go into the pet store and buy all these products thinking you need then but you never really end up using them. I did the same thing pre surgery. The most useful thing I found to have post-surgery was disposable Dixie cups so I didn't have to wash endless dishes for 2 bites of food!

Unless you've been living on ramen noodles and never go out to eat, You won't spend nearly as much on Protein supplements and Vitamins as you spend on groceries and restaurants now. i'm saving a couple hundred bucks every month. (Of course I've spent it all on new clothes )

I was sleeved 4/27 and I have so far purchased two 18 count packs of Premier Protein($24 each), a 12 count of Premier Protein($18), a canister of chocolate whey protein($20), a canister of strawberry whey Protein ($20) and three bags of Bariatric Advantage Protein powder ($180 total). Plus a bottle of Bariatric fusion chewable Vitamins ($30) and Pepcid Complete chewable ($25) because I couldn't stand the Prilosec the Dr. prescribed.

I recently got advanced to pureed food and picked up a few cans of Soup. I also hate all Water, so I have 7 or 8 Mio's to try to make it drinkable.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
