Hey guys! Lovely topic I know but I have a question. From the first time I went after surgery yesterday and continuing into today I don't have a steady stream til done. I go a bit then stop, go again and stop. Is this normal for after surgery?

I'm 10 days post op. As for me, this happened to me as well. I would say give it time. Mine went away within a week post op. Hope it helps.

Same here, Until the anesthetic and heavy pain meds wore off, peeing was definitely different.

Ditto, it was like my old people patients at work who start and stop the entire time they go and I never understood. Its jsut because we don't have a ton of Fluid rushing out so it comes in spurts more slowly. As long as we are going we are good:) I will say that I'm on day 6 and mine as regulated somewhat.

Did you have a catheter? I'm pre-op so I don't know if catheters are the norm with this surgery or not. But I had them with my c-sections and that's what peeing is like for awhile after they're removed.

Thanks guys...finally peeing in a normal stream now...didn't have a catheter unless they did it after I was out. That was really strange for a bit.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
