Anyone else a post-op symptom hypochondriac?

Recommended Posts

Every strange pain I get makes me worry that something seriously wrong is happening, even though the nurses in the hospital explained most of my pain away. Is anyone else super paranoid about every little pain you've had since leaving the hospital?

Meeeeeeee!

After my brain surgery, I swore I'd never have surgery again unless they dragged my lifeless body into the ER. Then I did this.

Every spasm, pain, twitch, hiccup threw me into a panic. It will pass.

Thanks. I feel like I'm counting down the days until I feel normal again(in the no wierd pain sense), and there are a whole lot of days to go. :-p

Ditto. Every little thing I feel I'm like oh no, I have a blood clot or a leak or they hit something wrong or my BP is low or my sugar is low.

Every little pain is a slight freak out moment. My biggest struggle right now is being lightheaded.

We just have to remember that we just made a HUGE change to our bodies and our bodies are adapting. Its hard but we know the statistics of complications are low and my surgeon said I would definitely know if something was really wrong.

I had my surgery 6 days ago, and I know things will get better for all of us!

My latest freak out was about a sharp pain in my calf. It seems to be reoccuring, and there's a small bruise that I never noticed before. I called my surgeon, thinking it might be a blood clot, and he told me that unless the leg is swelling, I shouldn't worry about it.

I can safely say that this ongoing paranoia I have of something going wrong is far worse than anything else related to the surgery.

It took me about a year before I quit freaking out over every little tweak in my abdomen. But better to be safe than sorry, so feel free to call your doc's office whenever something doesn't feel right.

  • I feel like I am--granted I had surgery on March 3rd. In the beginning no problems but a week after surgery I had an episode with my heart racing and since then I have been so paranoid. To the point that I got some stool cards and I checked my own stool for blood. It is positive. Granted I don't see blood in my stool and its not black and tarry it is still there. When I eat if I get the least little bitty symptom post eating I start feeling panicky.

I also think Im depressed. Not sure why....Im losing weight.

Hello! This is my first post on this amazing site :)

I had surgery exactly 1 week ago today and I am sure that I must have a blood clot because there is pain in my calf....

And then I feel a stingy pain in my tummy and am sure I have a leak.

It's a horrible thing to always think like this but I am so relieved that I'm not the only one...or than I'm losing my mind!

:)

Yeah. I am currently in I-think-I-have-a-leak-mode. I overate yesterday . . . by a lot. Two one cup servings of vegetables and chicken. Had a cup for lunch, which made me full. Then the second cup for dinner, which has had my sleeve hurting ever since. I never got a fever or the urge to throw up. Just pain all the way down my sleeve. I'm on liquids today, hoping I'll feel better within the next two days. Three days seems to be the magic number for stomach pain going away.

I know this is an older post, but I can so relate right now. I'm four days out, and SO very paranoid about all of the above. Just curious- of those who were super paranoid, did anything ever turn up for you??

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
