8lbs down!! I started at 235 and in 9 days I'm down to 227! My experiences are interestingly unexpected. I'm still on the full liquid diet and I'm starving!! I know about heading hunger but it's not that, I'm legitimately hungry, to the point I get irritable. It takes a thinker Soup or yogurt to make me satisfied. Luckily it takes me 2-6oz to be satisfied so I'm happy with that. That's another thing is, I'm never full! I'm just..... Done. My food just loses its appeal and I just stop, I'm good. I still experience some nausea but it comes on around 2:30pm-3:00pm so I take zophran. I don't know why it happens at that time, it just does. The really strange thing is, i now experiencing insomnia. I'll be extremely tired, I'll get ready for bed and then lay there for hours. Then I wake up early and I'm wide awake. It makes no sense but I thought I'd share all of this, maybe some of you can relate. :-)

I am 10 days in feeling pretty good xcept I am also hungry. I am having a hard time finding different things to eat. I feel tired but yet I dont take naps I cannot sleep until it gets really late. I am counting down the days for soft foods but I keep looking up things I can eat and I am getting so confused there are alot of different things on different sights.my doc gave me a list and it says I can eat mashed potatoes and refried Beans when i start soft foods but others say it has to be pureed in a blender. I just can't wait to taste food.trying to get through this

Yeah I feel like I cheat daily, I'm supposed to be on fulls but I can 100% tolerate soft foods. So I test little things here and there but for the most part keep to the diet. I've done some research and I think my surgeons office is more strict than others. They want 2 weeks fulls, 2 weeks pureed, then 2 weeks soft. There are those grey areas between each where foods can be in more than one catagory. I've just learned to not sweat it and try my best. At least I'm not noshing on crap. If I cheat, it's something like pureed avocado, split pea Soup, Beans etc. I start pureed in a few days, that should be better. I plan to make pureed chicken salad and other meats with sauce. I just want meat already!

I am 7 days post op. I am on Clear Liquids for two weeks. Clear liquids is rough for me. How many ice pops can someone have? I did the clear miso broth, chicken broth, Jello. I feel like I'm starving. It doesn't seem that other doctors do the two full week of clears. Any ideas of anything else to have?

Congrats on the loss! Hunger is evil at times...mashed potato dreams @ 5 days post op at my house. Soon my dream will come true and I hope my new tummy likes mashed potatoes as much as my old one did! Clear fluids are the worst! Always starving on that one but I was allowed protien powder mixed with Water, and that helped. I am still on clear into Wednesday (7days post op). Keep your mind busy, that helps.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
