Severe Pain in roof of mouth when I eat or drink

Has anyone experienced severe pain on the roof of your mouth when you eat or drink that lasts maybe 20 minutes usually. Roof of mouth feels swollen. This really hurts and I don't understand what it could be. Maybe dehydration?

It is caused by dehydration
