Ok, this label "Super Obese" !?

Recommended Posts

3 weeks out from bypass....BMI got below the label "Super Obese", did not notice the exact moment that occurred :D Darn, first time in my life I was labeled "Super" and I just threw it away. Speaking of labels, "Morbid" -- I think we need new labels.... I am going for Small Giants, Giants, and Really Big Giants...

Oh - haha. I thought someone labeled you as obese so you put on a cape and became Super Obese.

I've heard it all...been called morbidly obese, big as a house, five by five, fat as a whale, two ton Tessie, etc. I am now in the normal weight range based on BMI and any other determinating criteria and thankful and grateful as can be. My life is so much better in every way imaginable.

Congratulations on getting "Un-Super-Sized"! The BMI chart I used, had me starting at Class III Obesity. Since I liked to make (and achieve) every possible milestone, I celebrated: Class II obesity, Class I obesity, Overweight, Normal Weight, every 5 pounds lost, every 10 pounds lost, every 5 pounds left to goal, every 10 pounds left to goal, every quarter of the way to (or from) goal, every third of a the way to (of from), halfway there, and every one of the last five. And, of course, every shirt or pants size. It's insanely obsessive, but it makes it fun to achieve so many milestones. And by "celebrated", I mean with a fist pump, not a treat.

Oh wow. I just realized that I started out super morbidly obese. I passed through morbid obesity and now I'm merely obese.

Just a wisp of a lil' thing, I am.

I have always hated the term "morbidly" obese as well. Cheers.

Too funny!

I am just a few pounds short of leaving obese class 1 for overweight! I plan to Celebrate as I started in the obese class 3 category.

I love to Celebrate all the victories too and I plan to party hard! Maybe I will have some extra carrot sticks that day! LOL

I've always giggled at Gabriel Iglasias' "5 levels of fat". "Big, Healthy, Husky, Fluffy, and DAYUM!"

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
