Thanks for your reply FatBoySlim. I think I'm going with Dr. Fielding. Does Gaspar use a flouroscope for fills? Just curious...

Great job on your weight loss! I love your no nonsense attitude! I'm from NY too! (If consider Long Island part of NY - Ha Ha !!!)

Going for the psych exam on Friday at Huberman's office. Hope I "pass"! I had a dream that I didn't!

Best to All,

Maria

IT is more than just a "full" feeling, I ate 1 1/2 slices of toast 2 days ago and felt "stuffed" and them threw it right back up, obviously I was actually stUffed! so you basically can not actually eat too much solid foods. really soft foods I can eat too much in my opinion so I am cutting back on "soft" foods(such as Beans or mashed pot)

Trust me, my metabolism ain't that great, if it were I wouldn't be in this position. You have to understand, the hot dogs were nice and crispy, it wasn't soft at all, and also I didn't eat the bun. Same goes for the pizza, it was very crunchy. I agree that I shouldn't be able to eat it either, but that's why, if you've been reading my posts, I keep complaining that I need another fill. I too agree that I shouldn't be able to eat it. The bottom line is, at the end of the day, whether it's pizza or hot dogs, I'm still eating MUCH less than I did before, and overall calorie intake is MUCH less. Therefore I'm losing weight. It doesn't really matter what you eat, as long as you fill that pouch, get yourself full with little food, you'll lose the weight. Whether or not I'm getting the right nutrition is a different argument, but you can still eat fatty foods and lose. Capiche? ;)

you are also 25 years old--so they may not hold true forever.

Hey NY!!! I'm a fellow NY'er (from Westchester - Rye to be precise) living in San Francisco, I miss the east coast terribly, but I love SF, too...

Anyway, glad to see the band is working so well for you. I'm not banded yet, but I'm currently on a pre-op meal plan that my insurance/doctors office has me doing. Hopefully will be approved by July and then banded by September...??? We'll see!

I like how you put it - that you feel stuffed. I know the band is going to work for me (think positively, right?!), but I've been wondering what the "full" feeling is that everyone is talking about. I mean, I've been "full" before and have kept eating, which is why I'm in the predicament I'm in! But I've been "stuffed" before, too, and that is when I've stopped. So hearing you put it that way helps put it into prespective.

I realize I'm going to have to practice restraint and eat healthy, too... but I feel that the band will be the tool I need to help me with that.

Congrats on your weight loss so far!:clap2:

-Kim

It's like the full you feel after eating more after you already feel full. LIke after Thanksgiving and you can't move. But only from a small amount of food. :) You don't want to eat anymore that's for sure.

Hi FatBoy Slim,

It's a year later. How's it going for you? I was banded on Valenties Day 2008 and feel I've reached a plateau. I hve just started minimal exercising but the weight loss is noticable (45 lbs). I tipped the scales at 284 and can actually fit clothes I haven't worn in years. Dr. Fielding did my surgery. I need some inspiration right now as it seems it's taking longer for the pounds to drop. :-)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
