Liver Reduction Diet... SUCKS.

Recommended Posts

I'm on the liquid diet and I say it sucks donkey ass! I'm not experiencing true hunger, For the most part it's head hunger. Last night I did go too long between shakes though and I threw a temper tantrum! I'm laughing about it today but last night I was REALLY upset about not having French fries. So you are not alone ☺

Lol temper tantrum, I know how you feel.

And I agree for the most part I haven't had real hunger it is mental hunger all a mind game with myself.

I guess that is the real battle we have all faced with weight loss and have lost, though we have bounced back and come to terms with ourselves and have taken complete control (for the most part) and are taking the never lightly decision to have WLS.

You know what I think, we are all awesome, we could have just ignored the weight like we all have for years, but no, not anymore we are taking our lives back and not letting food control us.

You'll be fine, @@melisa6115 No one said it would be easy, but it's worth it. I mean we are all here, prepping for our surgeries. When you focus too much on it, that's when it will drive you nuts. Keeping busy is helpful! I've been cleaning and packing for the hospital, and doing little tasks I have put off for awhile. And watching a lot of Netflix. Don't be nervous, be determined! :) You can do this!

STAY BUSY! that will definitely help and I try to space out the shakes so I don't get overly hungry, like have them at regular intervals. I definitely struggled with my pre-op diet and had a lot of frozen meals with lots of Protein because the shakes were getting old. I have changed my eating habits a lot in the past two weeks even with eating food instead of shakes and don't feel like I hindered myself at all. Everyday is a struggle to get through the head hunger of wanting something, ANYTHING that is greasy, fried, cheesy, etc. Just because I decided to have this surgery doesn't mean I forget my favorites or love my Protein Shakes. It's a process that I take a day at a time. I spent 26 years making these habits, a 2 week diet isn't going to reverse that. Acknowledge your feelings, fall down, get back up. It will get easier!

Erin-

I know its hell!! But just keep telling yourself that if you DONT do the liquid pre-diet, there's a chance that once your doctor goes in for surgery, and finds that you liver did NOT shrink, he will close you back up and say he cant perform the surgery. It's hell and you'll struggle the first 2 days, I just started mine today, my surgery is 5/26, and I am miserable, but I have to focus on the prize!!!

Y'all I'm about two minutes away from taking this shake powder and flushing it down the toilet.

But in all seriousness, is it supposed to be this hard Pre-Op? I only have 3 days left until surgery, which I AM SO EXCITED about, but at the same time these shakes are depressing me a little... I think it's because I'm eating (drinking, I wish I was eating) them day in and day out. 5 shakes a day, and it sucks..

Was anyone else on this diet? And what is the risk of having a cheat meal this close to surgery? My birthday is Tuesday, and my surgery is Monday, and some of my friends want to take me out to dinner. I want to go, but the last thing I want to do is mess something up when I'm this close. Like 3 days people!!

Any suggestions? and please make me feel better by saying it was hard for you too doing this diet.

I would HATE being the only one.

Until next time,

-Erin

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
