I read somewhere the after band to bypass revision you loose weight slower than you would if you had bypass only. Are any of you finding this true? I am having my second band removed July 30 and converting yo bypass.

Yes absolutely...... I am nearing 60 though...... everything slows down.! But I keep losing that's what I'm tickled about

Ihi I've been following this post. I'm having my band to bypass surgery on the 22 and thus is the first I've heard of losing slower. . I'm puzzled that you feel no restriction. Has anyone else experienced this?

That has me very nervous.

Im thinking that because with the band we're used to the feeling of restriction it doesnt feel much different with the bypass.

The slower weightloss would also be related to banders being used to eating smaller portions, so the change in caloric intake is not as extreme.

When you think about going from eating huge 3 course meals to a tiny 6 oz stomach the shock to the system would be much greater = more sudden/dramatic weightloss.

I just hope that the cgange in hormones and reduced interest in food will sustain weightloss over a long period. Unlike the miserable band.

Just a quick update on my revision..... YES it is the best decision I have made to get that lapband yanked. I FEEL NORMAL.....i am in one-derland i have not been there in 30 years. I have lost 62# in 71\2 months. I have had cpap issues, still have to use it. my general health is good, i have structural problems, weight loss only improves it. I am exercising regularly. I have plateaued, so i am doubling down logging my food with FITNESS PAL, Protein watch and carb count. My attitude has vastly improved. It is interesting that i believe my voice was not heard, as a fatter heavier person, i did not think i could or should be heard. I believe the farther in the background i could be the better. Anyone else experience these sort of things.

Just an update with me. It's been a year since my revision and im at goal at 170 although I still want to lose a few more. 135 pounds lost in a year. Revision surgery doesnt have to be any slower. It's up to you as to how successful you are. These are the best days of my life. Looking forward to skin surgery next year. :)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
