Already had the surgery, 3mons postop now. As some know, riding season is on us. Normally riding with the hubby is an afternoon ride and we stop for lunch and/or dinner to accommodate my eating schedule. Fluids are a non issue as I own several camelpaks to use on the rides. However, we have a group ride/vacation planned for August this year, and the big ride day is a 12+hr ride day in the North Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina Mountains, there is a stop for lunch planned, but Breakfast and dinner are on our own. I can scarf a boiled egg for Breakfast, but what can I pack as non perishable Snacks that meet the dietary guidelines postop? Nuts I already tolerate well and eat on occasion as a boost if I feel tired while out running errands. So I thought about that as an idea. But I need veggies I would think. Can y'all help me?

I keep on hand StarKist lunch To Go, Albacore tuna in Water. It comes with reduced mayo, a spoon, napkin and you mix it up in it's own tray. It doesn't require refrigeration and it has 18 grams of Protein. I buy a box of them at costco. You can also buy just the single serve tuna if you are able to eat it dry and it only has 80 calories.

I ride too. I am 9 months out and always have nuts and a Protein Bar or shake on hand. Just in case they stop somewhere I can't eat. I have a small insulated lunch bag and have taken yogurt and boiled eggs, I put a freeze pack in it and it stays cold.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
