Food, food, food

Recommended Posts

I have my surgery programed for may 18th ... i don't have a pre op diet so i can practically eat whatever i want before the big day. I am just so scared i will miss food and all the nice things, i really don't want to regret my decision, sometimes i feel I'm too week... the other part of me wants this so bad!

Your relationship with food will change. But it will change in a good way. Check out some of the bariatric friendly recipes online. I still eat chicken fajitas just no tortilla. Many new and tasty things to try.

here are a few links to check out.

Only you can decide if and when you are ready.

Personally, I felt I had eaten MORE than my share of food in my lifetime. I was VERY ready to get out from under the hold food had over me and more importantly, the weight that was holding me back from fully living my life.

I am two years out tomorrow, and I have not regretted a single moment of my life since my surgery. I can buy clothes in any store. I can climb stairs without breathing heavy, I can eat (almost) any foods I want to. I Zumba, kickbox, and do mud runs with my two athletic teenagers. It's a thrill every time they borrow MY clothes. (MY CLOTHES!!! THEY WANT TO BORROW MY CLOTHES!!!!)

There is no cake/pizza/fries/ice cream on earth that even touches how great being thin makes me feel. NONE.

I'm the happiest I've been in a long time and it's only the beginning of my journey. You'll be the same.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
