Weight loss after pregnancy

Recommended Posts

My name is Diana and I had the bariatric surgery about 4 years ago. I just had a baby 2 months ago and I'm wondering if someone can share their weight loss story after pregnancy! I gained 40 pounds while pregnant and I am just disgusted by the way I look. I lost 180 within a year after surgery. My hips really spread after pregnancy so I'm not happy at all! I don't have any clothes that fit me because I was thinner prior to pregnancy. Is anyone currently in the same boat.

I haven't been pregnant since surgery, but we are currently trying to get pregnant. I just wanted to reply that your situation sounds pretty normal for any post pregnancy, surgery or not. I hope you are successful in losing your pregnancy weight. I know that breast feeding helped a lot for me with my first daughter, I dropped about 30 lbs in a couple months (even though I gained it back after stopping).

Is this your first pregnancy? Because that sounds very normal, as the previous poster said. It took 9 months for your body to stretch out, and it's going to take some time to go back... but it will never, ever feel like it used to. My hips were definitely wider, and my tummy softer after my son, and that never changed.

You could wait and see how your body changes in a few months, or just go ahead and buy some new clothes for your post-baby body :) It's totally normal.

I had my 3rd baby on 4/16/15 and I had the vsg in 2012. I gained a ton of weight with this pregnancy and am so scared I won't be able to lose it and get back to my happy weight. Let me know if you get any good suggestions!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
