Can you Touch Your Band

Recommended Posts

Hello Bandsters and I hope life for ya'll is as expected and healthy. BUT, I have a concern/question. I have had nothing but success and blessed with much weight loss and I love it. However, I work with some one who also had the surgery and we were talking and I told the story of how I can touch my band with my fingers and feel probly 50% of the band. Well, he looked at me like I was insane "flag" :heh: so thats what brings me here today. I can actualy touch my band and feel around it, its kinda freaky but not a problem for me. I had my grand daughter hit it with her elbow about the 3rd month and it did move right into the middle of my Y at the bottom of my rib cage. I was scared I had hurt it but after some time I quit worrying about it cause I knew it was still working. So, does this make me special or jsut concerned. God Bless and everyone, be safe, healthy and happy.

Are you sure it's your band? I can't imagin being able to feel it! Is it maybe your port you are feeling? I know some surgeons like to place the port right under the sternum. If it is your band I would think that would make you pretty unusual.

Yep - I am positive this is my band. I know where my port is and it is fine just always a reminder daily that things are good and it is still there and fine. BUT, above this port in the center of my chest at the Y is definatly my Band so I guess I am special. Origionally the band was under my cavity and just a knowing it was there UNITL my baby CHelsey elbowed me and then it popped up in the center of my chest and I am able to touch it, wel half of it anyway. It is tilted just a little and even when I totally recline in my chair at home and look down my chest I can see it........... This is NOT a problem for me, I just wanted to check in with all of you to see IF - I am special ;)

If you are sure it's your band, and you are sure it has moved positions, you probably should have it checked out, because it sounds like it may have slipped...

Are you sure it's not the tubing to your band? Apparently there's quite a bit of tubing that loops around in us all, connecting the band to the port. I've heard people say they could feel parts of the tubing in the abdominal cavity.

I'm not a doctor, but my understanding of anatomy is that our internal organs are not right under the skin -- they're surrounded by layers of muscle, fascia, fat, etc., as part of our survival system (i.e. they're hard to get to). If you could feel your stomach (and, thus, your band) from the outside of your body, that would be most unusual.

Whatever it is, I wouldn't worry about it but simply show your doc at your next appt and see what he/she has to say about it!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
