Pain in large incision area worsening

Recommended Posts

I'm almost 3 weeks post op, and my incisions have been feeling normal. Now, all of the sudden I'm having very painful burning sensation, and stretching feeling in my large incision area. I'm having to hold it in like it's gonna burst kinda. It doesn't look bad and no discharge. Anyone else have this pain? Worried about infection or hernia possibly....I will call my doc in the morning though. TIA

Yea. Mine got worse too and then by my one month check up it was nearly gone. I was worried too. It hurt to sleep on my stomach but it went away

@@FlabbyNat funny you should post this. I am post sleeve about the same time as you, and just started noticing the same thing a couple days ago. It's my lower left abdomen, and it doesn't feel like it's my "innards" hurting, it feels more like muscles pulled, or maybe it's just healing. It's below the bigger incision where the stomach was removed. I feel great otherwise, no other issues. I have been googling it, and it appears to be normal.

Boo looks lIke we're all in the same boat. I like to think of it as our muscles tightening/getting stronger as we become more active lol I'm an optimist.

@@erose321 I think it's muscle too. It's low...so nowhere near my stomach or anywhere they cut me and stapled me back up. I think it's from all the walking I've been doing. Cuz I feel fantastic otherwise.

Its microscopic nerve endings growing back. That is the burning you feel. Normal.

Please Please keep a close eye on wounds that don't feel right. I had a pocket infection under one of my wounds and was rushed into hospital and was in for a week. Admittedly this was one wk post opp but it's set me back big time & was the most horrific thing I've ever been through. If in any doubt speak to your Dr. ????

At about 3 weeks, your large incision can begin to be super painful for a week or so. There is a stitch, deep in the muscle there that is healing. Almost everyone has it, and the severity of the pain, seems to depend on your activity level.

Yes it's normal, a part of the healing process.

Try a heating pad for the pain, it really helps a lot.

my large incision hurt badly for about 3 weeks - it didn't help that I think I popped an internal stitch one night flipping over in my sleep. that was a very intense pain that almost sent me to the hospital. I used a pillow for 3 weeks when I got up or down from sitting or laying. Keep an eye on it and if it doesn't get better, definitely call your doc! that's what he/she is there for!

Thanks Y'all! I did contact my doctor, and she said it was completely normal. As I get more active, that muscle will have pains. She said I will have ups and downs for 4-6 weeks, until it heals.

I feel better today! :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
