FlabbyNat 72 Posted May 13, 2015 I'm almost 3 weeks post op, and my incisions have been feeling normal. Now, all of the sudden I'm having very painful burning sensation, and stretching feeling in my large incision area. I'm having to hold it in like it's gonna burst kinda. It doesn't look bad and no discharge. Anyone else have this pain? Worried about infection or hernia possibly....I will call my doc in the morning though. aubrey222 45 Posted May 13, 2015 Yea. Mine got worse too and then by my one month check up it was nearly gone. I was worried too. It hurt to sleep on my stomach but it went away
wannaBthinsoon 1,634 Posted May 13, 2015 @@FlabbyNat funny you should post this. I am post sleeve about the same time as you, and just started noticing the same thing a couple days ago. It's my lower left abdomen, and it doesn't feel like it's my "innards" hurting, it feels more like muscles pulled, or maybe it's just healing. It's below the bigger incision where the stomach was removed. I feel great otherwise, no other issues. I have been googling it, and it appears to be normal. jane13 2,256 Posted May 13, 2015 mine hurts more at night for some reason, just the one incision.
kimdlawson06 141 Posted May 13, 2015 I'm four months out and had the same issue. It took forever for it to feel better and took about 6 weeks for it to be tolerable.
erose321 68 Posted May 13, 2015 Boo looks lIke we're all in the same boat. I like to think of it as our muscles tightening/getting stronger as we become more active lol I'm an optimist.
wannaBthinsoon 1,634 Posted May 13, 2015 @@erose321 I think it's muscle too. It's low...so nowhere near my stomach or anywhere they cut me and stapled me back up. I think it's from all the walking I've been doing. Cuz I feel fantastic otherwise.
LisaDomalewski 79 Posted May 13, 2015 Its microscopic nerve endings growing back. That is the burning you feel. Normal.
EJS 6 Posted May 14, 2015 Please Please keep a close eye on wounds that don't feel right. I had a pocket infection under one of my wounds and was rushed into hospital and was in for a week. Admittedly this was one wk post opp but it's set me back big time & was the most horrific thing I've ever been through. If in any doubt speak to your Dr. ???? jenbaby75 283 Posted May 14, 2015 At about 3 weeks, your large incision can begin to be super painful for a week or so. There is a stitch, deep in the muscle there that is healing. Almost everyone has it, and the severity of the pain, seems to depend on your activity level.
woo woo 872 Posted May 14, 2015 Yes it's normal, a part of the healing process. Try a heating pad for the pain, it really helps a lot.
wannaBthinsoon 1,634 Posted May 14, 2015 Mine have gone away...they only lasted a couple of days.
Weighting2BeFree 164 Posted May 14, 2015 my large incision hurt badly for about 3 weeks - it didn't help that I think I popped an internal stitch one night flipping over in my sleep. that was a very intense pain that almost sent me to the hospital. I used a pillow for 3 weeks when I got up or down from sitting or laying. Keep an eye on it and if it doesn't get better, definitely call your doc! that's what he/she is there for! FlabbyNat 72 Posted May 14, 2015 Thanks Y'all! I did contact my doctor, and she said it was completely normal. As I get more active, that muscle will have pains. She said I will have ups and downs for 4-6 weeks, until it heals. I feel better today! ~~Natalie
