jm726 27 Posted May 15, 2015 I am 30 years old, and my husband and I are waiting a little longer to have kids. So, in order to have the surgery my surgeon said I had to have either an implant or an IUD. He said this was because the pill is no longer effective postoperatively. I'm assuming it has to do with the site of absorption of the pill. So if you aren't having a cycle or irregularities with it postoperatively it maybe due to a decrease in the absorption of the hormones. Just a thought... Hope this helps. Jersrose43 837 Posted May 15, 2015 I had nothing change. My doc said off nuvaring for 30 days pre and 30 days post. Use condoms in the meantime. No issues. I used to be extremely irregular for years but was regular during those 60 days and on time and same period since.
