I am on my puree foods step and I couldn't be happier!!!

The 2-weeks of shakes were HELL for me! I just wanted to eat something! Of course the shakes made me full, but it didn't stop my cravings. I finally had my post-op appt yesterday... they said I could move on to the next step and I am so excited! I don't know how I made it through those 2-weeks of shakes, maybe I have more willpower than I thought. Anyways, I had some ricotta cheese and sauce last night and it tasted like heaven. When the dietitian told me my portion sizes would be 1/4 cup, I thought "YEAH RIGHT!" - but it actually filled me up! I even had some Greek yogurt yesterday and savored every spoonful. I am just so happy I can start to eat actual food and not dread my meal times. Or course I am still drinking shakes to get in Protein, but now I can add extra things to make it taste better. My personal favorite--chocolate shake with PB2 (powdered peanut butter), and 1/4 cup of banana--soooo damn good!

I am so happy I went through with this procedure! I was having some doubts along the way, but nothing good ever comes easy, and this process is NOT easy! I know I am going to run into more obstacles along the way, but I'm heading in the right direction and just need to stay on track!

@@Djmohr Thank you so much :)

@@hellohealthy Yayyyyy congrats to you!! I'm loving this stage right now and it only gets better from here! They actually don't allow us to have baby food bc there's not enough Protein and there could be a lot of sugar.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
