Can you eat/have mints? Lifesavers? Altoids?

I can't crew gum anymore because sometimes I swallowed w it and I think that will be ALL BAD!

Did I read no berries, like raspberries due to the seeds?

I can only have the things like mints if they are sugar free. My dietician encourages berries once patients are cleared for all foods because they are high Fiber and low carb (for fruit). Seeds are not an issue after your stomach is healed.

I asked my nurse what the deal was with mints when I got sleeved last weekend. She told me they increase the risk of reflux, which is why they are on the list of things not to do.

My surgeon ok'd me for mints. He even let me have one post op to help with dry mouth. However, what I use the most of is the Listerene breath spray. One spritz and my mouth feels fresh and moist. It's a life savior when I am waiting the 30 minutes after eating until I can drink.

Hi - I am 6 weeks post op now and I use sugar free mints to help with my crazy bad breathe. I find the mild flavored ones are fine - but the strong ones like Altoids make me nauseous. I am staying away form gum - just in case I swallow it.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
