NJE123 6 Posted May 12, 2015 Hi! Very new to the process.... Had my first visit on the 27th of April and had a sleep apnea test the next night (pcp had already sent me for one). It came back positive.... Does this hurt my chances of getting approved?
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted May 12, 2015 Actually, it will probably help.
linedancer718 44 Posted May 12, 2015 You will need to use the machine. It takes time getting used to it but it is so great once you realize how crappy you used to skeep.
momma_missie 30 Posted May 12, 2015 I was just recently "officially" diagnosed with horrible sleep apnea. As stated before, the machine takes some getting used to, but it's amazing to feel rested in the morning once you get used to it!! And yes.. it should actually help your chances at getting surgery. It's considered a comorbidity (sp?) I believe.
linedancer718 44 Posted May 12, 2015 I have the nasal pillows. I made a commitment to put it on every night. Sometimes it came off before I fell asleep. Then I made a goal to reach the minimum 4 hour recommendation. If I woke up and it had been 4 hours I let myself take it off. Then I made a goal of all night. It took time but now I won't go to sleep with or its. I recorded myself one night before I would use it and hearing how awful I sounded really helped me admit I needed it. I do look forward to getting off of it though. Be patient but do it. It took me about 3-4 months to feel the benefits. I actually felt more tired when I first started. I was told it was because I'm making up for a sleep debt. I feel so much better now.
Weighting2BeFree 164 Posted May 12, 2015 I love love love my cpap. I personally never had problems getting used to it. I wear it all night. It's great. I went from having 100+ episodes PER HOUR to 0.4 per hour. It's made a huge difference. Good luck!
