nurse43cat 10 Posted May 11, 2015 When on earth do I begin? I have sleep apnea and requires 2 months of data.. I just received machine and could not wear mask and now have the nares but I wake up and they are off ?.. Frustrating as old dickens. I scheduled the required psychologists appointments ... I seen the dietician .. Lost 7 pounds at a weight of 310 standing at 5'3". I really am struggling with ththe machine and the diet.. Any sites for the diet that I can review? BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted May 11, 2015 I would ask the dietitian at the bariatric program. I don't think most programs are looking for major weight loss, just documented evidence of the attempt. 7lbs is a good start.
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted May 11, 2015 Talk with your sleep doctor. You may need to try a different mask.
Need4Change 26 Posted May 14, 2015 I have severe obstructive sleep apnea. I was diagnosed five years ago and have tried sleeping with a c-pap twice over the years - each for several months at a time. I found it impossible, regardless of the choice of mask. Some people just can't do it. I suffer from chronic Migraines, chronic congestion and insomnia and all three complicate sleeping with something strapped to my face. If my impending sleeve doesn't clear the apnea, I will be fitted for a dental apparatus that will force my lower jaw forward while I sleep. It is intended for mild apnea (not severe), but my pulmonary specialist said that he will take what he can get.

My Dad died at 64 with multiple complications from it! I have used a CPAP for 8 years and I use a full face mask. Believe it or not, I can't sleep without it!
