Definition of *sweet spot* from seasoned banders

Recommended Posts

I was banded on April 9th and have had one fill of 1cc. I'm eating more than I know I should but not anywhere what I use to.

I haven't lost a pound since my fill which was 4 weeks ago.:) I hear people say they were *good* for 3 months and then haven't been since or they fell back into their old eating habits.

Why would that happen if they have the correct fill?

Does the *sweet spot fill* make you not hungry? So you can bypass those bad foods?

Seems like if you aren't losing weight and are still trying to eat within the rules you should have a fill...is this correct?

For those that have been banded over a year...Can you give me some insight?

Early on a good fill make me not hungry so I could easily avoid those bad fills. But that appetite/headhunger has returned for me, only I can control it better now, but its there. I'm really not sure if another fill would help or not, but I'm thinking about it.

I have only had my band 6 months, but I can tell you my last fill has made a huge difference. I get full really fast. I don't get hungry for hours. I don't have room for anything I am not supposed to have. If I wanted to eat something off limits right now, I would have to not eat my Protein. I don't want to do that because my hair has started falling out.

I heard that Hair loss is from lack of Protein, and possible other reasons. I guess what I am trying to say is right now I don't have any room for any empty calories.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
