So I had the gastric bypass 10 years ago and it was a success. But two babies and health issues later I had gained about 80 pounds back. February 21st I had to have surgery again (basically a revision but due to disease they had to actually remove a foot and a half of my small intestine and about 70% of my stomach out of my body) I've was 270 the day of surgery. I'm at 243 and have been here for the last month. I exercise, get my Protein and Water and do everything I'm supposed to. I didn't actually have the surgery to lose weight again; I had to have it because of being in and out of the hospital for internal bleeding and ulcers. But since I did have to have it I'm getting frustrated that the weight isn't coming off.

Look, no magic here. You've put on weight because you are taking ion more calories than you burn...THE TRUTH. Exercise every day, eat healthier, eat less...FACT. You at least have the tool of the surgery which absorbs less of what you eat and less true stomach hunger. Two months out after revision is nothing, keep on a diet, keep working out.

Even though you didn't have the surgery to lose weight your sub consciously hoping it would do it for you.

You know the fundamentals of losing and maintain weight with WLS, go back to the basics and re-start, re boot your system.

Go back on the shakes do your exercises and avoid the temptations that got us to the weight we all put on.

You know what you need to do and you can do it, the surgery is only half of the tools for successful weight loss you are the other half.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
