Help I fell off the wagon

Recommended Posts

I went on vacation, this is my eight week post surgery, and I ate a bite of everything, I was a bad girl, eating sweets and even a few donuts, now it's time to come back to the real world. I seem to not get enough to eat, how do I start back on the right track and what would you recommend eating?

I'm sure you've read and read and read (on these forums) that when you eat sweets and other unnutritious carbs you just crave more of them.

So get ready -- it's time to go cold turkey. If you stop eating them, you'll stop craving them.

It's not the end of the world -- just time to go back to work.

Yup. Time to detox off the sugar and carbs. Protein and veggies and lots of Water. Measure and track everything you put into your mouth. That should get you back on track. If you keep yourself full on protein and water, it's hard to make room for junk.

HI there @paulatoney - I"m in the same place tonight. I just fell off the wagon today after an over-busy weekend. DUMB way to reward myself for such a work-intensive weekend! Tomorrow (Monday i'm back on track and i hope you'll find yourself there too. My plan is to log my food, walk to work for an exercise jumpstart, and do NO added carbs (my nemesis). Tuesday i'll get to the gym - one day at a time we can get back on plan. Let us know how you're doing.

Kate

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
