Any last minute advise? I'm pretty nervous but also very excited to get to the other side. Hoping all goes really well.

Godspeed in your recovery ???????? and just take care of yourself. Don't over do anything, and listen to the doctor. And stay on top of the pain with your meds. It's not fun waking in middle of night with pain. I felt like my insides were so fragile the first few days.

And keep reminding yourself it's going to be so worth every once of pain you are going through.

I had mine this past Wednesday (May 6th). RNY. I honestly did not even open my bag I took to the hospital except for going home clothes and my phone charger. I was released from the hospital about lunchtime on Thursday (28 hours after surgery started). I try to hang on to anesthesia so I only opened both eyes at the same time yesterday morning. ???? I was relatively calm during the preps though I had those scary thoughts. I kept pushing them away and the last thing I remember is my husband kissing me as we made our way down the hall.

Best of luck to you and welcome to the club!

Walk as much as you can within reason. It helps a lot with getting rid of the gas and air from the surgery.

I'm three weeks out now. Get plenty of rest and do your best to get in your fluids. Make sure you do your walking and, if you are staying in hospital for a few days, make sure you let your nurses know if you are having pain before it gets overwhelming.

Don't be too hard on yourself. It's a little different for everyone. You can do this!

My Sx is Thursday! Very excited question ... What Protein drink did you use???

I have been using Spiru-Tein. I have a strong aversion to sugar substitutes and this powder is low in sugar but what it does have is natural.. Nit is more expensive than some others out there but it is very high quality and I think it tastes great.

I use Muscle Milk. Low sugar and they have a high Protein version that has 32g per serving. The less I had to drink to reach my daily goal the better. They come in vanilla, chocolate, banana, and Cookies and cream. I like the taste but I haven't tried any of the other kinds other than Slimfast which is great but had more sugar.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
