Weirdest thing while traveling

Recommended Posts

Hello, I'm 3 months out and down 50 lbs. haven't had any real issues. I was on the road for a month straight and I ran out of my prescription reflux mess and switched to Prilosec. Shouldn't be a big deal. So, I'm on a plane and put my tray table down to sleep on (530 am flight). When I wake up I have a vomit like substance coming out of my nose and mouth and down my shirt. It was gross. I'm not sure why the lady sitting next to me didn't do anything - I probably would have thought I was seizing... Anyway - I had eaten a granola bar with chocolate before that - not ideal and nothing I would eat if I wasn't traveling. Everything was closed at the airport and I was ill prepared - my fault.

My question is - do you think that was the foamies and it was worse because I was asleep? It was kind of unsettling.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

Maybe because you were hunched over on the tray table? Maybe the Prilosec isn't working for you. I have never had this happen, I could understand how it could be unnerving. Try a different over the counter PPI until you can get your prescription filled.

Maybe...I saw my doc as soon as I got home and he just told me to get back to my routine. I was only home 2 days out of the last 30 so it was rough...

Sounds like you vomited up stomach acid. I did it twice in my sleep and realized I didn't eat much the night before. I'm now diligent about eating and taking my 40mg of protonix twice a day!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
