nads64 25 Posted July 16, 2015 Had preadmission testing today and met with Nut and nurse. Made it all so surreal. My preop diet is 2 shakes and a sensible dinner being mindful to focus on Protein and veg for that meal. Day before surgery will be just all Clear Liquids. Not so bad. kbpaulie 11 Posted July 16, 2015 Welcome Amberina, and good luck to everyone, wherever you are in the process! I am 12 days away from surgery (July 27th), and working my way through the pre-op diet. My pre-op diet consists of two shakes a day and one high-protein, low calorie meal. I know that is less restrictive than a liquid-only pre-op diet, so I have a ton of empathy for those of you walking that path. I feel fairly hungry a lot of the time, and I waver between feeling confident and missing food fiercely! Like Alicia, I struggle the most when cookng for my family and when seeing and smelling good things that others are eating. It really helps me to check in here and remind myself that others are going through many of these struggles, too. I also like to think of a theory I read about claiming that it only takes 21 days to change a bad habit. Between this pre-op diet and my first week post-op, that might be enough time to cure me of this cursed food addiction that has chased me my whole life. That's my hope, anyway. I wish everyone here the best on this journey!!
Maggiebee 7 Posted July 16, 2015 I am scheduled for this coming Monday, July 20th. I am SOOOOO excited! I feel for you having to cook for your family. Be proud of yourself. You can do this. I to my husband he is on his own until I am healed. I'm through raising children so I don't Have to deal with that. You will be a good example for your family. Durlinda 2 Posted July 16, 2015 I am 60 years old and only my family and one close friend knows I am having the surgery. I am no longer working so I am sure my former co-workers will see the difference when they see me again in a few months ( at least this is my hope anyway). My surgery is scheduled for July 21. I am a little anxious about the surgery because of my age but have had 2 C-Sections and two abdominal surgeries so I have some idea what the discomfort levels can be. I wish I could find a few "Sleevers" close to my age. I find myself wishing I had had the surgery 5 years ago when I first started thinking about it.

AYRW71 26 Posted July 17, 2015 Kbpaulie, thanks for starting this topic. You're absolutely correct. I check this site every evening and love to read everyone's post and find strength and encouragement to stick with it. Praying for all of our success. I'm sure this wasn't a easy decision for any of us and we've worked hard to get to this point so let's take it on home and finally WIN this battle.
